ParticipantThat original post received about 10 likes and Elites. Shall we convene a committee to work through the details of actually making it happen?
Like this post if you are willing to help in some way or another and I’ll be in touch.

Does this need a committee? It sounds like the only thing missing is a start date. Does July 7th work for everyone? I’ll help by walking my bike.

Probably not a committee, but some volunteers to help with various items to improve the likelihood of success.
– Fliers/handouts/cards to give cyclists in advance
– People to distribute these for a week or two ahead of time
– Setting up a Facebook page
– Other social media to help disseminate information
– Signs (to hold up or stick in the ground)? (“Dismount Monday: Be Safe – Dismount and Walk”) to remind cyclists that it’s Monday
– Volunteers (like GB) to be there on Mondays, walking back and forth and helping maintain order
– Volunteers to bring cameras/phones to document activity
– Other?I think July 7 would give us enough time to get the word out, so let’s use that as a placeholder date for now. Mark your calendar.
Let me know if you want to help with any of this. I’m willing to take a shot at creating the handout.

ParticipantI’m a big maybe. On the one hand, if you can come up with a specific ask (e.g. put $ into the CIP for 2015/16; pressure Richmond to work faster, etc), and work with WABA and maybe AAA to get this right, then I could see it being part of a larger strategy.
If not, if you’re thinking of just doing this and vaguely asking for things to be “sped up” and something to be “done” then I see the potential to make a bad situation worse.

As far as the pole issue you brought up the before, e.g., we’d need to figure out if moving the pole is part of the engineering plan that’s currently being reviewed by Richmond. If it is, asking for that opens a door for the Board to say “yes, we’ll move that pole” and then say they’ve “given” us something. Instead, we should be asking for that to be sped up. -
