If this keeps happening we can drop out-of-tolerance elevation numbers unless it has been corrected (I believe that is a flag on the activity).
I suspect that this will have to happen. The indication from his profile is that his altimeter has been seriously screwed up for the entire last year (4 million feet of climbing over 1,600 miles last year). It’s so screwed up that just one ride where it’s not updated will skew the graph.
I’m holding off on my rant about the number of trainer rides that I’ve seen already without #nobafs.

My understanding is that if they are marked as “Stationary Trainer” on Strava, they don’t get picked up, even if they are not marked as #nobafs

My good friend whom I invited to play guilty of this and I will reach out and have correct it. The rides needs to be tagged as trainer and/or? tagged #nobafs ???

There is a box you can click to indicate it’s a stationary trainer. Or you can put #nobafs in the title of the ride.

It also spoils the chart for us that don’t enjoy climbing but enjoy looking at charts of how much non-enjoyable climbing we did.
Thanks, I felt bad griping about Major Tom but that is a real fun chart. Glad to see I am not alone in the chart and watching the billy goats.

Don’t feel bad. Having a huge outlier like that makes the entire chart pretty much unreadable.

ParticipantI had submitted a ticket to Strava about some mile calculation wonkiness I experienced yesterday and they acknowledged they were having problems. As of yesterday afternoon they believed they were resolved (and my experience agrees with this).

Yep. Either mark as a trainer when selecting the activity or add #nobafs to the title. Better coming from you than me. I’ve been kudoing every single participants rides so I’ll start notifying offenders as well.

Just let a friend of mine who’s a newbie to FS know about the #nobafs thing for trainer rides!

ParticipantI do need to make sure we aren’t syncing “virtual rides” (e.g. Zwift) not sure exactly how those are marked in the API.

Glad I’m not the only one! My ride in to work yesterday morning clocked in at nearly double what it should have been, and when I checked the map, the system had drawn me zig-zagging in the middle of the Potomac and in Obama’s backyard. In order to keep it honest, I uploaded that one, then manually did the difference of my regular round-trip mileage. I’d hate to be double counted due to Strava going on a bender
