I participated in the scavenger hunt race in the spring. But as I noted on another thread about the race, I’ll probably sit this one out. It’s too close to the Marine Corps Marathon. I nicked a calf in March when I got wobbly while going over the hay bales on the final lap. I didn’t fall but my calf smacked into the pedal. It didn’t hurt too much, but the next day it was black-and-blue and sore.

But I definitely plan to spectate. Since I won’t be riding, I may just have to bring my camera and take a lot of pictures. If so, I’ll post some on the forum. I don’t know if I’ll wear anything fancy or outlandish. I don’t really have any outlandish or super-trendy or super-hip clothes. (I think that disqualifies me from being a hipster.)

    It’s back.

After spending the last two weeks organizing and whipping a perpetually disorganized teenager off to college it was a bit of a shock to open up the Derby web page, click on the Gallery of photos, and see myself captioned, Spectacle.

You might be the only one shocked by that. Seriously, that bike, that outfit.. awesome…. you should have been on the splash page. It’s on my calendar and I will certainly be sampling the bourbon sangria!

I’ve been down in my basement trying to figure out how to wire 300 LED lights onto a petticoat. I probably should have consulted with Dirt about this little project before I ended up with six DD batteries that somehow need to be concealed in the dress. For some reason I bet Dirt would know a thing or two about this sort of problem. :)

You could hide the batteries in a bustle. The downside is you would them have to construct a frame which would hurt the aerodynamics when cycling.

I think a DD bra would be appropriate for that purpose, properly lined of course. (I would not have suggested this, but for the DD batteries.)

Ann, your creativity knows no bounds – awesome concept for the Diamond Derby!

I’m much too delicate a flower to have any idea what you’re talking about.

    I consider it a challenge.

And I am captioned Obstacles. :)

Here ya go: The Friends episode where Monica works in the diner and has to wear a costume. I bet there are some batteries stuffed in there:

I think my post creeped everyone out and killed the thread. Funny how often that happens to me.

That’s okay, I am just back from Michael’s. It’s amazing the variety of spiders they sell. How can I pass up a chance to play Black Widow?

Easy bike decoration? Find a wire basket and some floral wire. Attach an assortment of whatever you like. I like spiders. And face cards from a deck of playing cards. Finish it off with a giant bow. You’re done. Bow not required.

Bonus: It’s a great excuse to buy a pair of shoes to go with your decorated bike.
