This is very mofo sucky news. I can’t “like” this post. I hate that another one of our community has joined “The most exclusive club no one ever wanted to join.” Prayers and good thoughts for David. [emoji22]

ParticipantThis man is positively, without a doubt, good people. Sucks to hear he’s going through this. Donated.

ParticipantDavid is one of the heros of #bikedc and DCBIKEPARTY. He and I went through cancer together. We both recovered. He went to Hatteras and I was still not really mobile. And I remember how THRILLED I was to see him with Cate down at the beach.
Unfortunately David went into remission. He has stopped working. Stopped riding a bike.
They are collecting to cover his expenses. Please consider chipping in.

ParticipantI never met David, but I donated. Everyone deserves the opportunity to spend their final days at home with family, and it pisses me off so f*cking much that this isn’t a basic human right in this country.

I echo this. (And also donated, you should too if you have not already.)

Also haven’t met David but donated and hope that he gets to spend his last days with his family.

ParticipantThank you for posting, rcannon100. I haven’t had the pleasure of meeting David, although he looks very familiar. I know I’ve benefited from his efforts to promote bicycling in DC and his work with IMP venues. I donated, and I hope David gets to spend the rest of his days with his family.

ParticipantThanks, rcannon100 and other posters, for the heads up. I don’t believe that I have met him myself though, like dbehrend, he looks familiar. I hope that we help ease his final days.

ParticipantI remember meeting Dave during my very first DC Cranksgiving. We rode by his house and he gave us cans to donate. He was such a great cheerleader that I remember his booming voice and infectious smile many years later. Tragic he is no longer with us. Are donations still being accepted?

ParticipantI assume so. Cate will have some bills she needs to pay off. I believe this is the latest goFundMe page
