ParticipantNeat article. I like the idea behind the app. It’ll be interesting to see how that works for Philly planners.

ParticipantThanks for the tips. The other issue I have with Garmins is that they are _another_ device to carry around, worry about charging and uploading, etc. The beauty of phone-based tracking is that it will upload automatically, and I already charge it daily. So if anyone knows of an app that’s truly one click…
Thanks

ParticipantIsn’t 1 click on the phone is a bit far-fetched? Surely you need to be able to firstly unlock the phone, and secondly select the app, and then the 3rd click to start/pause/stop.
I’ve heard of an app called Moves that stays on and saves all your activity using your phone’s GPS during the day, but it apparently uses a lot of battery (and I guess wouldn’t differentiate between walking and biking?). Relatively low-click though I’d imagine.

ParticipantAny third party app is also one more company that you are giving all your geolocation information to.

Unlocking doesn’t count because I’m often looking at my phone shortly before getting on the bike (weather, map, telling someone I’m leaving, something). I don’t know why you’d need the “3rd” step of pressing go. Just go whenever the app opens.

ParticipantThe great thing about the Garmins is they are weatherproof and if it falls off my bike 1) it won’t break and 2) if it did I haven’t broken my phone. Plus I want HR and cadence data and of course I want the display always on. The new Garmin units that sync automatically are pretty low maintenance. You need to charge them every 15 hours.

5 days of forum chatting = 36 seconds of googling “strava widget”. Winning?
