If the weather is as expected, I plan to be there with my family. I will NOT be dressed as a nurse.

I endorse this post. If you’re a newbie, the course will be open for practice 1-3pm on Saturday and they are holding a women’s cross skills clinic Saturday at noon. There will also be beer available on Saturday.

I’ll be riding up there Sunday to watch. I can’t really lead a ride up, ’cause I’ll be coming from the Montgomery County Hinterlands at a yet-to-be-determined time. I would love to ride back toward NOVA with people if others are up there.

    Love,

Wow, I didn’t expect a lap would be so long. I might finish 3 of them, I guess? I have yet to attempt a leap o’ faith and probably won’t on Sunday either.

I went to a clinic once and a strategy is to step on the left pedal and “jump” on from there. It is the “Not Quite Leap of Faith.”

I signed up for the rookie race a couple years ago. But I got lost on the way to the race site. I had looked up the area on Google Maps but I still couldn’t figure out where to go from the Metro station nearby. I asked passersby for directions and they sent me off in a different path completely. I arrived about halfway through my heat and watched the riders from the other side of the fence. And that’s the extent of my DCCX experience.

So if you sign up, be sure that you know how to actually get to the race course! It looked like fun.

I’m not signing up this time because I don’t want to get any minor nicks or bumps and bruises a week before the Marine Corps Marathon. But for those who have wrapped up their century rides and triathlons for the season, DCCX would be a great idea. Well, as long as you have an appropriate bike and as long as you’ve practiced a few quick mounts/dismounts with the bike.

I wish I had the skills for this. Maybe by next year I will. In the meantime, I admire the hell out of anyone who tries. My nurses uniform is pressed. My six Pez dispensers are ready. My stethoscope is cleaned and ready to go. Good luck ladies and gentlemen!

If I can get my boss to give me a few hours off I might be able to make it… and I would need to jet back to Fairfax (and work) afterwards so perhaps we can finally ride together until you drop me of course! 50/50 right now!

I’m a bit out of the target age range for this ( as is my Raleigh Tourist unless the sponsors have slots for antiques ) but it sure looks like a fun spectator sport. I’ll be checking it out.

Cyclocross is arguably the funnest form of cycling to watch. For me, it is arguably the funnest sport to watch. Few sporting events inspire me to yell and make noise. Cross makes me do that and jump up and down at the same time. Definitely taught me to multi-task. :D

Last year I raced the 4’s and managed to not get lapped or finish dead last in 4 laps.

I’m going to try to go to this too. What time are you all racing? (our forum members who are racing, that is)

Take a look here to see who’s registered. Check out the Rookie Race, scheduled for 4:15 p.m. tomorrow, for some familiar names . . . .
