Cyclist Stabs Motorist Who Cut Him Off

I liked the DCist comment:

Before we jump into the usual “Cyclists vs. Motorists” narrative, let’s note that a stabbing happened. Carrying a knife and using it during a heated argument is generally a sign that we’ve got more to worry about with that person than their mode of personal conveyance.

I carry a leatherman in my bag as part of my commuting tool kit, but the steps required to get it out (especially wearing gloves) pretty much guarantee it’ll never be used defensively or offensively.

It’s not right to hit the guy’s car even if he was cut off, let alone stab him. With that said, who the hell gets out of their little smart car after someone just smashed it with some sort of heavy object? Wouldn’t your first thought be, gee this person may hit me with same said heavy object. Call the cops, sure. Honk, sure. But approach the person? It just seems very provcative and stupid.
