PG county really needs to work on their pedestrian/cyclist infrastructure. I nearly daily see high school/middle school aged kids crossing 210 on foot and bike to get to/from conveniences stores where there’s simply no accommodation for pedestrians at all. It’s not safe. [It’s also why I don’t live there (my commute would improve, housing is more affordable, but I refused to buy a house in a neighborhood that’s not safely and enjoyably walkable)].
It’s remarkable if you drive out on Penn Ave from the District into PG – it turns into a highway with no ped infrastructure at all right across the line. I see people walking in the ditches and crossing in the middle of nowhere. It’s terrifying as a driver and I can’t even imagine it as a pedestrian.
