I salmoned it before I saw this thread. There was no sign saying it was one way, only cones blocking every way that a car might enter. Being on a bike, I just rode in between the cones. I wondered why everyone was parked the wrong way. Now I know.

I was there a few hours ago. No signs informing cyclists that the road was one way whatsoever. I watched as one, two, three, four, etc. cyclists continued from the sidewalk onto Ohio Drive going south, unknowing that they were salmoning. Luckily vehicular traffic was so jammed at the Ohio/East Basin intersection that oncoming northbound traffic was spread out, people stayed on their side of the double yellow lines, and I didn’t see any incidents with cars parking.

This morning I saw a PP officer talking to a cyclist right by the Jefferson Memorial. It seemed as if the woman was receiving a ticket because she didn’t seem hurt at all. Maybe they were enforcing the no salmoning up the road there coming off the bridge.

Flip side, last night, PP decided to pull over someone in the middle of Ohio Drive before 395. I have no idea why. I almost asked the cop if he was insane because now the tourism traffic backed up on the right side and the 395 traffic backed up on the left side. So a bunch of tourists having to merge out of the right lane while I’m trying to ride down the street there (sidewalk obviously not an option) made for a fun experience. I really hope the PP officer had a really good reason to pull the person over there because it was ridiculous.

I saw that too as I was coming around after a loop around East Potomac Park to enjoy the cherry trees. But clearly there is no effort to enforce the parking regulations in the area since cars are everywhere they were not supposed to be and a totally clueless 99.1 radio van driver who couldn’t figure out what he wanted to do at the East Basin/Ohio Dr intersection – stopped a couple car lengths back from the stop line and then made a left hand turn from the right lane with no turn signal. 😡 😡
