I have one, though I don’t use it consistently. No problems so far, though I’m Android, so I haven’t worked with the app yet.

Are you going through their kickstarter page? They have their own webpage, and, at least for the Android app, they have updated it recently.

I am looking at the “Support” tab of Cycliq.com.

I have an iPhone so I’ve had the app all along.

So without the app, how have you adjusted things? (such as deleting light settings you don’t want to have to cycle through, etc.) Can you do this stuff with the unit plugged into your computer? I’m wondering if my frustrations might have been diminished if I hadn’t had the app to contend with and the constant hassle of connecting by Bluetooth and WiFi.

    So, my questions are:

-How do you know if and when you need a firmware update? There doesn’t seem to be anything on the website to indicate.

-If you “lock” a segment so it won’t be overwritten, how do you “unlock” it when your card starts to fill up? So far, I have to do that by reformatting the MicroSD card.

-Have you memorized the many combinations of indicator light flashes and beeps to know what the heck is going on with the thing at any given time? Or do you carry the quick start guide with you?

After a fair bit of trial and error (which involved at least one commute with a serenade of beeps but only five minutes of footage), I finally got most of my commute recorded this morning — at least until I stopped for coffee. I turned it off while I was at the coffee shop. I turned it back on when I resumed riding, heard what I thought was the series of beeps indicating it was recording, and took off. When I got to work, I discovered the unit was shut off and was not recording during Part 2 of my commute. No idea why.

I wish that instead of the indicator light/beeps the unit had a menu driven display, like a real camera. To make things worse, I have the unit mounted upside down below my handlebars so I can’t even see the indicator light when I’m riding.

    Thanks for any insight.

Here are some still photos from my video of this morning’s commute. The camera quality is quite good; no complaints there.

Been thinking of getting one but the report of bad customer support worries me.

I would say this depends on whether you are the “early adopter” kind of person, or if you prefer to let new technology be alpha, beta, gamma and delta tested before jumping on board. That said, I’ve learned a lot through trial and error and am happy to share my knowledge if you decide to get one and later run into problems.

I believe the concept is great, the product is pretty good (and getting better as they work out the kinks) and the two guys running the company are very sincere, if a little over their heads. I think the product and the operation will get better with time.

I’ll post some more stills from my commutes yesterday and today in a moment. I continue to be impressed with the camera and the light itself.
