I should take a can of paint out and mark up a few more areas to be resurfaced :)

Let’s just hope they have well-oiled machines and warm up their equipment properly in order to complete the job successfully.

Whoa, this discussion is making me feel like asking my wife if she wants to go for a ride.

Remember, only you can prevent forest fires. Naw, just don’t forget your helmets- make safety a priority.:D

The idea is that the area between markers 12 and 14 (iirc) is going to get repaved. There’s something of an unexpected holdup on the backend, so no solid start date yet. You’ll hear about it as soon as there is one, though.

It is also marked up from markers 18-21.

I’ve found out this from the Parks & Rec Trails Manager:

“Some repairs are scheduled to occur from marker 12 – 15 with money from our past fiscal year. We are hoping to complete the work by July 1. Additional repairs may be made on the Custis Trail through another unit in coordination with the current activity.”

Given the generally horrible state of the trail overall (natural speedbumps anyone?) it is unfortunate that the entire trail couldn’t be resurfaced all at once. It’s not a trail that I do at night because of the unexpected bumps and potholes along the hills.

I guess something is better than nothing.

BTW: Fab moon view along the MVT last night. I’ve never seen a pink moon before. Dirt would have approved.

Kathy, I encourage you to ask the County Board members that every time you see them :) Trail maintenance is continually given short shrift in Arlington, and that’s very unfortunate. I think someone wrote an article about it . . . http://clarendon.patch.com/articles/of-bikes-and-budgets-time-for-the-arlington-county-board-to-act and http://clarendon.patch.com/articles/snow-stopper-arlington-countys-trail-clearing-efforts-fall-short

There was a lunar eclipse last night but it wasn’t visible in North America (don’t ask me why, that’s just what the newspapers were reporting). The fabulous pink and orange colors were due to the sulfur thrown up by a recent volcano eruption in Chile.

Sorry. I was in training part of last week and was up in the Philly suburbs scaring the crap out of the locals. I guess I took that whole “City of brotherly love” thing a bit too seriously.

    I missed y’all too. :D
