Around noon the sunny parts were completely clear, but stuff in the shade was packed down and will probably be getting slick…

Thought about that but the temp/wind combo make that kind of unappealing.

The MVT/4MRT/W&OD combination was about 70% clear. Unfortunately there was lots of ice, particularly at the edges of the snow patches. Coming out from under the Wilson Blvd underpass was a particularly slick and nasty.

So what is the general consensus for the Custis tomorrow morning?

I did the big loop around (MVT–>4MR–>WOD–>Custis) this afternoon at about 4PM and Custis was definitely the worst of the bunch. The others had a few treacherous spots, but Custis had the most. I was most worried about the MVT ice patches that were closest to the GWPkway – particularly, worried that I’d wipe out on one and end up on the Pkway under a car.

Custist was manageable, but seemed to have the most/longest stretches of ice+snow. There was a really bad looking spot around Lincoln St. that had a lot of ice. Otherwise, most of the trail had at least one-half that was clear and rideable.

Up the Custis hill was pretty packed. Didn’t seem icy though, but I’d be cautious coming down. I didn’t have any slips or anything going up though. Foot traffic doesn’t have the same icening (totally a word) effect that car traffic does, apparently.

The fun stuff is west of east falls church on the WOD, still almost entirely covered with packed snow when I rode home tonight.
