Oh for heaven’s sake. If you had been in a car accident would they ask you when you were going to stop driving?
I asked my cousin exactly that after her second or third accident when we were kids.

The world would be a better place if you really lost your license after multiple collisions — and had to go through real driver’s ed to get it back…

ParticipantUpdate!
About a month out from the wreck – turns out I had a small tear in the ol’ kidney. Wheeee!
Anyway, I am so ready to get back on the bike. I have been scouring ebay and craigslist every day since the accident looking for a decent commuting bike. I am happy to say that I found on ebay what I hope is the perfect bike – a 2007 Kona Major Jake. I won the auction (I never win!) and the bike should be here in a few days. N+1, baby! I am already in love, shocking. Hopefully I didn’t get ripped off. See everyone out there in a week, hopefully!

Oh I am definitely keeping it. I think it made it through the accident ok but I need to run it by Bikinetic for a quick inspection.
Wider tires on the Major Jake is for piece of mind for my wife and for a license to gravel grind with you guys for me.

ParticipantHa, my dad did a similar thing while in 1st grade, except in his version of the story he came home after having the cast removed and was jumping on my grandparents bed when he fell and broke the same arm again. There is a reason my dad writes left handed and does everything else with his right…
ps- at least one of the times they reset the break without pain meds.

Glad to hear it though I must admit you’ve had an unusual amount of bad luck. Since trouble comes in threes I think you are finally out of the woods now.
Hopefully this little story will make you feel better:
My uncle broke his arm when he was a kid; he was in a cast for many weeks. On the day he got his cast off he was so excited when he got home that he dashed out of the car to run to the backyard to play. Unfortunately his older brother heard the car pull up and came walking around the side of the house and they collided. My uncle broke the same arm. So they got back into the car to revisit the doctor who had taken off the cast that morning to put on a new one. Family lore has it that the doctor was furious.
P.S. I still think you should wear a pumpkin for a helmet.
