ParticipantOh, very unfortunate. I rolled through after EMTs were already on the scene as well as several other helpful folks so I thought the best I could do would be to stay out of the way. So thank you for your help. I also appreciated the cyclist down the trail who’d gotten off his bike to warn oncoming cyclists to slow down.
Sad that no one knew what had happened. I hope he recovers okay.
Stay safe out there, everyone.

ParticipantI certainly hope the cyclist is okay. I’m a bit perplexed that no one else was at the scene that appeared to be injured so perhaps he crashed on his own??? There really isn’t anything to bump into around there. Perhaps he had another medical issue that caused him to crash? Vomiting is also a sign of a heart attack.
Did he have a helmet on? It’s disturbing that he could have had such a bad head injury with a one on. Yikes!

ParticipantIs the location at the north end of the airport or at the south end near the Four Mile Run intersection and bridge?
Thanks

I left work much later than usual today and came upon a serious bike crash on the MVT just before the first overpass going southbound. A gentleman in his 50s/60s was on the trail lying on his back with gashes on his arms and his legs. His right eye was swollen shut and he had some lacerations on his head. Judging by the fact that he was throwing up, I am guessing he suffered a concussion as well. He was riding a Pinarello Prince which was off to the side in the grass. A rider that came upon the scene who was a physician asked a few questions and helped him to move off of the trail into the grass to lie down. In the meantime, 911 was called and help soon arrived. They took him off on a stretcher board and I left shortly thereafter.
Unfortunately, no one at the scene knew what had transpired.
Stay safe out there everyone.

He was wearing a helmet.
@AlexandriaBiker The man was lying on the trail right about here: http://bit.ly/25eJQXzMay 22, 2016 at 5:03 pm #1052519notmarian
ParticipantI came through after EMTs were on the scene as well, and certainly hope the cyclist recovers quickly. I noticed several bikes off in the grass in the area (including a sweet looking Rivendell) and assumed more than one cyclist was involved, but perhaps not. That’s the third accident I’ve seen in that area in about a year.
