Yesterday as I biked in along the Custis, in-bound around 6:50am, on the uphill along the condos just east of spout run (approaching the bridge to nowhere), there was a cyclist on the ground and another nearby. The few cyclists in front of me appeared to ask if help was needed, as did I. As I continued up the hill, a third cyclists was escorting EMT personnel. No idea what happened. The downed cyclist looked generally okay (no obvious broken anything, but he was lying down) and things seemed well in hand.
Anyone know if the cyclist is okay? Anyone know what happened? This is a prime area for head-on crashes this time of day due to the sun in the eyes as one heads up that hill (I know I have been surprised by people “suddenly” appearing on the downhill as I get close).
I passed by there around 6:20 to 6:30, must have been right after it happened. I slowed but didn’t stop because there were several cyclists stopped already and one was on the phone calling 911. There was a gentleman with a white beard on the ground, near where the barrier juts out into the trail, with a bloody knee and looking a bit dazed and in pain. Hope everyone is okay.
