Some vendors in the event should have them on hand as “freebies”.

I didn’t go last year, but the three years preceding, they were very readily available as freebies.

We went last year to the races in Clarendon and didn’t see or hear many cowbells. I ended up ordering a coupla Speeco sport cowbells from Amazon.

What’s the difference between the “sport” version and the non-sport version?

A nicer handle, costs more (yeah, I am a sucker), and hopefully better quality. I just wish it was available in yellow for performance sake.

As much as I like yellow, it’s my understanding that red is a faster color. Thoughts?

Everything in the red family is fast. Some of it is fluffy as well.

Anyone want to meet up for some race viewing/lunch on Saturday? We’ll be riding down from College Park and will probably get to Clarendon by about noon. -Jeff

I’ll be around. Say Hi! I’ll be the tall one with a big camera.

I’ll also be around. I’ll be the not-tall one with a big drink.

I’ll be there with a big chunk of my husband’s large family, plus our 19 month old, to cheer on husband in the 1,2,3.

If anyone falls in love with the ‘hood while watching the race, our house goes on the market this weekend, and is a short walk south of Clarendon. We bought it after end a day of house shopping by stumbling into the Clarendon Cup four years ago. We couldn’t have been happier with the decision (we moved into a larger place north of Clarendon, what with the growing family and all). PM me for more info…

From DC, I was going to take the Custis trail, then go straight after the I66 crossover, then turn south on N Veitch Street to get to the Clarendon area. Does that sound reasonable? I may have some newer riders with me and want to take easy routes with bike lanes and less traffic if possible.

That’s the way to go. You may want to take the sidewalk for the one block on Lee Hwy before the left on Veitch. Turn right on Key after a couple blocks and go west until you want to cut over to Wilson/Clarendon (probably Highland).
