Any ideas, advice, etc. is welcomed.
You do see a few bikes locked to the fences of the outside area at E&C (as well as the signposts/etc around there). If we’re outside, or even just near a window, I think a long cable lock would be fine to secure a bunch of bikes, assuming E&C don’t mind. It’ll be a reasonably busy area on a summer Thurs evening so it would have to be a very daring thief.

ParticipantHello —
Here are some suggestions for garage bike parking a couple of blocks away:
1801 K Street — the garage entrance is actually on the L Street side of the building. There is a cage (which gets pretty full), but you need a key card to access it. However, you can lock your bike to the outside of the cage. It should be pretty secure; there are always attendants there. Not sure how late it is open, but when I worked there, I never got locked in and I can work pretty late sometimes.
Arent Fox Building — 1717 K Street — this has ample bike parking, well lit and very secure. The lobby is open 24 hours so if you stay so late you get locked in, you are allowed to bring your bike up the elevator and through the lobby to exit.
There may be buildings closer, but these I definitely know about.

ParticipantThere should also be bike parking in the garage for 1909 K Street, the entrance to which is on 19th.

ParticipantMy building has a locked cage, so it’s no good unless you have a key. I’ve also learned that the induction loop for the exterior doors, which go down at 7, is triggered by steel and aluminum frames, but not carbon.

Reason: So… as a rule…. will we only be allowed to drink vodka at these alleged going away parties
Maybe more of a guideline than a rule:

ParticipantThe garage at 1909 K is a no-go. It, too, now has an access-controlled bike room. There is a garage in the building in which the pub is located, though I didn’t descend into the depths to reconnoiter. As mentioned, there is a small number of bike racks almost directly in front. A few bikes were also locked to the railing surrounding the outdoor seating area.

ParticipantThere are also about 6 Bikeshare stations within 3 blocks or so.

ParticipantHey! For those of you who never received your bicycle icicle after Freezing Saddles, I am bringing them to happy hour tomorrow. If you are one of these people, pick up your icicle. If you know one of these people, pick up their icicle and deliver it to them.

ParticipantI hope those bicycle icicles will cool things down a little. Either that or ice cold Status or Kruto vodka.

Shots of vodka may be an appropriate drink for this evening …. See you all shortly!

ParticipantI’m disappointed, but still at work and I don’t think I’m going to be able to make it. Hope you all are staying cool one way or another!

That’s a shame.
I got there after all and had an extra lock I would have fixed you up with.
Maybe you can join us at our next happy hour at Cap City in Shirlington next Thursday. Chris will be there too!
