Runway 15-33 at Reagan National Airport will be realigned, to shift it farther to the southeast. On the SE end, the runway will be extended into a new area to be reclaimed from the Potomac River through infill. The NW end of the runway will be pushed back farther away from the GW Parkway and the Mt. Vernon Trail.
It doesn’t appear that the MVT will be affected. But I thought it would be useful to post this item, in case people wondered about the construction that is set to start next week. The project could last for 2.5 years, until late 2015.
