ParticipantSounds like it might be the Spoke-lit from Nitize. They have a few solid colors and one ‘Disc-o’ that changes colors.
a few other cool LED options on there too.

I think I ran into the same woman and was inspired to get those spoke lights. I bought two of the red Spoke-lits from Nitize, and I think they have worked well — inexpensive, easy to install, and I think they’ve increased my side visibility. I should note, though, that my only real evidence for that last statement is that the first night I used them, three separate folks said, “Wow, look at those lights” as I rode by — so I assume I was more visible than the norm.

ParticipantI just had my first ride with my NiteIze Spoklit light this week. Mine is green and only on my front wheel. I’m trying to attract the attention of cars on the many road crossings of the W&OD. I “feel” more visible, anyhow.

ParticipantAnother very eye-catching spoke light is the Monkey Light;

ParticipantYup, they sound exactly like the Spoke-lit lights. I bought two from LLBean about six months ago (the multi-color kind). They definitely attract a lot of attention; big hit with the kiddies (they usually stop and point). One guy in a crosswalk stopped in his tracks and said I looked like the solar system
If you want to be semi-cool, go for the single color; if you really like lighting up like a carnival, go for the multi-color ones.
I made the mistake of throwing out one of the lights when it died; I found out afterwards that the batteries can be replaced. Opps.

ParticipantI just installed a set of green Spoke-Lits last week, and I think they’re great. Cheap and easy, and are extremely visible especially from the side. When turned off,they look just like old-school reflectors.
Definitely attracts some comments, but I figure that means people are noticing me, which is the point.
One unknown is the battery life.
