Overall, the streets are fine. It even stopped raining just before 3:00 a.m., so most of the ride was not bad.

Columbia Pike was wet. I did not encounter any sludge or ice once on the Pike. The worst part was not the side streets, which were clear, but the turn onto Columbia Pike, where there were a few spots of sludge.

The trail past the Pentagon, along Route 27, was fine. The bridge over Route 110 had some ice and sludge. The bridge over the northbound GW Parkway was much better, but still had a little sludge. The third bridge was the worst, almost covered in ice and sludge. From this point until the final road crossing before Memorial Bridge had spots that are icy.

On Memorial Bridge, ice and sludge cover most of the sidewalk. It usually does not cover it and there is less on the southern side. Once you get to the wooden “ramps” over the joints, though, things are covered with ice and sludge.

Ohio Drive from the Lincoln Memorial down to the Jefferson Memorial is fine. There is a little sludge on the bridge over the inlet to the Tidal Basin. The sidewalk past the Jefferson Memorial is fine, until you get past it to where they were doing work earlier in the year. There is some ice there. Back on the road, there is some sludge on the bridge over the inlet to the Tidal Basin.

Maine Avenue SE and M St SW/SE is fine. There is a small strip of sludge in the right lane, in front of DOT.

Sidewalks — Since I tend to avoid them, I didn’t pay attention until I was past the Sheraton on Columbia Pike. There were some icy spots and the entrance to the VDOT facility had sludge across it. Along M Street SW, from DMV to South Capitol they looked pretty bad.
