Are you saying you don’t carry a multi-tool with you everywhere?

Of course I do. Does your multi have an 8 mm hex? It’s quite large.

In a poetic ending, the 8 mm Allen wrench I have is one I found on Metro a few years ago. Pedals installed.

Those mallets are really nice – I went with the eggbeaters a couple months back b/c of discount, but I’d be keen to hear how it goes with the mallets.

Both the eggbeaters and Keo’s that I have require an 8mm hex – neither has flats for 15mm. The no-brand platforms that I had on the FG? Only 15mm flats or a 6 or 7mm hex. Weird.

I think the newer/higher-end pedals are all going with the 8mm hex to save weight (they were already going to be hollow, and don’t need to be 15mm wide). I’d be worried about snapping a 6mm hex.

And of course I have an 8mm on my multitool. :) (I don’t expect to actually be able to get a pedal off with that any more than the emergency 15mm pedal wrench, but I suppose I could put one back if it fell off.)

Yeah, all my multis have a 8mm hex. The previous generation of Crank Bros pedals may have used a smaller hex I seem to remember, I still have one of them on my MTB.

Guess I need a better multi.

So far so good on the pedals. Easy to clip in and out this morning. No falls.
