Kinda sorta interesting. But since I just ride to ride these days with no real goals other than to ride, this — like power meter data — just doesn’t do much for me. :-)

I only ride to generate statistics. 357m, 812ft based on 1336 days of rides logged on Strava. So 27% of my rides had 357 meters or more of climbing. 61% had 812 feet or more of climbing.

Oh by the way my Eddington number will go to 100 Saturday and you’re all invited. :) The ride starts at Vigilante in Hyattsville at 7am.

Climbing number is the only number that matters. If you have a climbing number of 1,000 or more (imperial) you will live forever*.

    432m, 777ft.

Only need < 1 yr of 1000+ ft rides to reach immortality. Not too bad!

Is the Eddington number supposed to be for a given year or lifetime? A couple of weeks ago I calculated this back to 1999 which is the first year that I input all of my rides into a spread sheet.

You can calculate both. Most folks would look at lifetime though, I imagine.

Mine then is 120, but it will not get higher since I have been cutting down on the maximum as I get older. I have 91 rides of 121 miles or greater.

Awesome! My Eddington is 53 with 1.75 years of Strava data. (although I think it would be the same if every bike ride I had ever done pre-Strava were included). I think I’ll probably end up pushing it somehwere into the to the 60’s for the lifetime this year. My longest ride is 105 so getting to a score of 120 would be quite a feat.
