ParticipantCheck your local farmers market. We’ve picked ours up by hand the last two years (One year we carried it home while I had the littlest gremlin in the backpack). Level of smugness will definitely reach 11.

Participant“Good” place? The Christmas tree lot on the southeast parking lot at Harrison St and Lee Highway was open as of yesterday. Can’t vouch for it since we’ve been using the same artifical tree around the world for the last 23 years.

ParticipantThere’s usually a seasonal stand set up in the parking lot of the Petco/Advance Auto at Lee/Harrison, which is pretty easily accessible by bike. Based on their pumpkin/gourd prices though, I’d wager their trees will be spendy. My wife and I have purchased trees at Merrifield Garden Center (Gallows/Lee Hwy), which is decently bike accessible, but a bit further out, and I’d say they’re a good compromise between quality and convenience. If cheapness is the goal, Home Depot in Seven Corners is probably your best bet, and you can get there by bike with a bit of planning.

ParticipantCool idea. The Boy Scouts sell trees at Dominion Hills pool, which is a short hill climb from Bluemont Park and the W&OD. You’d be going downhill with the tree. Wherever you go, get pics!

ParticipantAnd to quote this morning’s Arlnow column:
“…The Optimist Club sells its trees from the parking lot of the Wells Fargo bank at Glebe Road and Lee Highway. Other Christmas tree sellers around town include the Boy Scouts (6000 Wilson Blvd), the Lions Club (Columbia Pike and George Mason Drive), and the Knights of Columbus (830 23rd Street S.)…”

ParticipantAlso from ARLnow:
“…the Optimist Club of Arlington is expecting a record number of sales this year…”
Well, duh. They’re optimists.

I wonder if they are free range, organic trees, and are they taking parking spaces away from cars and bakfiets?

That same little birdie told me that they are quite small. I’m looking for a big one! (well something over 6 feet tall at least)

You might need a real cargo bike for that!

wrap it in an old blanket and you’ll protect the trailer just fine. Same goes for the tree.
