Does anyone here regularly ride across Chain Bridge onto the Capital Crescent Trail (or vice versa)? Is there any way of doing it without either:

    a) first going south for a half-mile on the C&O (which is unpaved)

    b) jumping the barrier, running across the road and hiking up the narrow path to hit Capital Crescent Trail?

This would be an ideal route for me many days but I don’t like either option…

I know the CCT is in MD but Chain Bridge is in Arlington.

Sorry. I’m of the distinct opinion that dirt is good. :D

I don’t think there is really any other way to do it, so that’s why the hiking path has been worn up that steep hill. Anyone else have any thoughts?

FYI–The Chain Bridge is maintained by the DC Department of Transportation. And, at that section you are talking about, the Capital Crescent Trail is also in DC.

    Thansk guys.

Yeah sorry, I meant DC not MD. I guess there’s 0% chance of it ever getting upgraded then!

I like dirt riding too but my main hybrid commuter always seems to get punctures easily so I try to avoid offroad bits, even with knobblier tires.
