(Not necessarily bike-related, but… well, read on.)

I occasionally read online reviews for running shoes, in my never-ending quest to find the perfect running shoe for me (if that exists). I like the lightweight Saucony Hattori shoes. Very light. Zero drop. Velcro straps instead of annoying laces. Only problem is that the seams between the uppers and the soles are located about 1/4″ away from the sides, that is, on the sole itself. On longer runs, this starts to chafe my little toe.

I have Pearl Izumi isoTransitions, which are nice for longer runs. They are a little heavier but still lightweight. They don’t have the seam on the insole, so no chafing. But they have a 4mm drop (from heel to toe).

So I’m looking for a zero-drop shoe that doesn’t have the seams on the insole or a high in-step (like all Nike models and many other shoes, including the Saucony Kinvara). When I see a promising candidate, I check out reviews and I look at the shoe fit on Running Warehouse.

I heard about a new shoe from New Balance. Looks promising. Found a review of the shoe. Seemed solidly written and informative. I looked at the author’s name. Tim Kelley. Hmm, that’s funny. There’s a guy in Arlington by that name. Oh wait a minute. That’s the same Tim Kelley.
