Which Road ID do you use? I didn’t see anything that I’d always have with me without thinking about it.

Road ID sport. http://www.roadid.com/p/the-Wrist-ID-Sport No reason you cant wear it all the time. I tend to put it on in the morning and then just leave it on all day. Looks like a watch band. Only modification is I have put a piece of duck tape over the information; I dont need everyone at #FridayCoffeeClub knowing what my blood type is :-)

Ditto but I have I the Elite (does that make me ELITE?). I put it on December of 2011 and haven’t taken it off except for once or twice when I thought it needed a cleaning. Might be purely physiological but it gives me a little peace of mind when commuting in DC.

I’ve got one of those RoadID thin bands (although my daughter, bless her heart, promptly said “Dad, You’re not thin!”) and I’ve got it positioned with my bike bag that I always put it on before heading to and from work. So far, so good.

Does anyone have any real world experience with RoadID? That is, had an accident and paramedics/medical personnel used it while you were unable to respond? Alternatively, has anyone had the paramedics show up and look for it automatically (even though you were still conscious and responsive)?

I keep mine in my shoe so I don’t forget to put it on. :)

Road ID (the one where you pay a yearly fee and you can upload your info into the website I guess that’s the elite one?)

In the comments section I have also upladed my wife’s and 3 kid’s insurance info numbers and blood type, etc. really worth the 10$ per year.

I have the ankle band Road ID, and I just leave it on all day. My wife leaves her Road ID on her camelbak, which she always rides with.

+1 RoadID Slim wrist band. Never take it off.

Not sure how many other people do this, but I also have a few numbers in my phone under ICE (In case of emergency). Allegedly emergency responders will look there.

Another idea of placement could be a band around your thigh or torso … Thinking of what first responders do when they arrive on the scene of an accident; start to check for broken stuff likes legs ribs and remove shirts to check for visible injuries, its something that wouldn’t be missed.

I’m thinking ID in a bike bag could be missed if someone were transported by ambulance from the scene. The bag could be knocked off the bike itself. But in any event, having emergency contact info while riding is always a smart thing to do.

My experience in four years as an EMT is that medics won’t, if your are in an accident where it will be needed then they will be too busy. Police will likely get to it after you are at the hospital so they can notify someone, or they will call ‘home’.

Another bump for the “Slim”… I wear it 24-7.

    I included by row:
    my name,
    spouses name,
    her cell only…
NKA * A-Pos * Organ donor (No Know Alergies, and blood type)
    Home address.

The information isn’t for calling your family at the scene… it’s for if the situation is bad enough that you cannot communicate (probably after you are stabilized at the hospital).

My husband keeps his road id on his bike. Not as good as on his person, but it’s better than him forgetting to put it on his wrist, and it being left at home.

I guess I’m an emergency info ninja. I should fix that.

I put off getting a RoadID since my wife had mentioned possibly getting me one for Christmas. But she didn’t and this thread reminded me of it, so I ordered one on Monday. I went with my name, my wife’s name+number, and NKA+blood type. I ordered the sport version since, for some unexplainable reason, I’m not a big fan of the “cause” bracelets or anything that resembles them.
