ParticipantHere, here to all the folks that showed up and made for such a fun night. Thanks to ArlingtonRider for thinking of it and warning the restaurant ahead of time; I think we overwhelmed the waiter a bit.
Best wishes, fun adventures, and safe travels to SpokeGrenade as he embarks on the “bike and build” trip across America. I am so jealous! Thanks for all the info about crewing; I’ll never look at the sport the same way again. And no, you can’t eat PB&J every day for 2.5 months; that is just so wrong!
Glad I can now put faces to so many of the avatars though I still have a hard time remembering everyone’s “real” name.
And no bugs going home – you were right Brendan. What a pleasant surprise.

ParticipantThat was fun! My ride back out to Vienna and then to Clarendon was nice and cool and also very pretty due to all the fireflies and stars. The only negative of the night was my realization that the disco/rave rear UFO-pattern blinky ran out of charge before I made it to Vienna (oops). The trail riders and runners who were also out appreciating the cool weather and ambiance probably appreciated that, though.
(…and don’t tell my mom I was with you all only a quarter mile away from her house for a couple of hours and didn’t visit.)

ParticipantThank you Arlingtonrider for organizing this! It was fun. Great to see some forum folks I had not met.

And eminva – was that your new Cannondale?
Yes! So far, so good. Still getting used to those pedals — maybe one of these days I can clip in without having to look down.

ParticipantA great pre-Happy Hour ride at Hanes and a lovely Happy Hour itself. It was great seeing everyone!

ParticipantThanks so much to everyone who came – you guys made the party! What a great group of people – I really enjoyed meeting Brendan, RCannon100 and Kel for the first time, hearing about Dismal Scientist’s amazing road trips and all the other stories, plans and nuggets of riding advice that were shared by everyone, and it was wonderful that Dirt and OneEighth brought family and friends along. I wish I had had a chance to spend more time with everyone. Many thanks to all of you, and especially to KLizotte and others for helping to get word out, Consularrider for staking out our tables and getting the party started and to Dirt for pulling together a nice pre-ride. There are some leftover funds from this event, so if people are interested, we could try to do this again on the last Thursday in June (to take advantage of $2 pint Thursdays at Cap City).

ParticipantI also want to add my thanks to Arlingtonrider for pulling this together. A repeat on the last Thursday in June, the 28th, is probably just the ticket to finish up training for the Total200 on Saturday, June 30, got to get to bed early on Friday.
But I should say since there are no photos it really didn’t happen.

This is great that the local cycling community is organized enough to pull off a get together of this scale in short notice. It’s really a sign of the times, and indicative of the interest in biking in the DC region!

That’s my point, exactly!
BikeArlington, WABA or any other cycling group didn’t have to do any of the organization or offer any prizes or swag to convince people to go. People just showed up to have a beer together and it all came about organically!

ParticipantThanks for organizing this Kathy.
CyclingEconomist: here’s a great opportunity to meet the Bike Arlington folks near your house. Lycra is optional, I hope.
