Green Calvinball acquired.

Contents were frankly disappointing given what they previously were, but consumed one of the chocolate truffles on site:

Balanced on head:

Allowed the pets to gaze on the Calvinball in wide wonder:

Hobbes has been frolicking around the alleys of Old Town, found some left-over Heineken and is now sleeping off the buzz in a miniature Siberian forest, but don’t make him sleep there all night!!!

SiberHobbes is warm in DC again. Hopefully, I can get him back out there again tomorrow (Thursday), but that was close to my limits. Thanks for some warmth and an escort to the Metro, Thor! I took the first train possible at Braddock Road (it was that cold even in the enclosures that I didn’t want to wait 4 minutes or so more!), took it to Crystal City, and transferred to Yellow.

SH likes watching the whales and birds on Blue Planet II.

Sorry, Team 10’s beer drinking extravaganza is instead at 8pm on Friday. :(

Funny and wonderful I found SH just as you were coming out to head over to the not really extravaganza!

Watching Hobbes’ various adventures around the DMV is by far my favorite part of Calvinball this year.

Someone needs to combine all the GPS tracks of hiders and finders to see exactly how Hobbes has traveled! I can do it if we start listing who had it and when and I’m given access to each of their GPS ride that involved hiding and finding him. Or we can just do the hiding locations :)

THEN WE DO A HOBBES RIDE!!! :D

Delighted to see that you and Hobbes made it to and fro without freezing to death!

I’m in:
Here’s my ride to find Hobbes: https://www.strava.com/activities/2074130579 (He had been hidden by Emm). On this one he was found at the point where I turned around on Four-Mile Run Trail.
And here was my ride to hide him: https://www.strava.com/activities/2077285849 (subsequently found by lhasaCM & M). Hidden at the turnaround point, more or less.

The rate he’s going – that may be a multi-day effort… :)

Making this a running tally…

From LhasaCM:
Here’s our ride to find Hobbes and take him home: https://www.strava.com/activities/2087513157 Found where the first picture is, and then taken on a roundabout route to get a snack before heading home.
Our ride to hide him after transmogrification: https://www.strava.com/activities/2095876398 Hidden at the zigzag in the MBT just east of where it intersects R Street. Found soon thereafter by Erikaceae

Hmm, maybe we need to add dates? Also, I’m thinking we’ll end up with a huge unrideable mess, where we’ll end up at people’s houses.

Instead of the routes, why don’t we just post:

1. Date and location found – intersection or GPS lat/long along with any notes.
2. Date and location hidden – intersection or GPS lat/long along with any notes.

I’ll add it to this map, where I already put the location I found it and hid it: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/29261228

I’ll connect the dots after that. Note, it probably won’t be the route the person took, because I assume most people aren’t finding Hobbes, then rushing to go hide him.

From Steve O’s ride – Found: 1/12/2019 around 38°50’50.6″N 77°05’58.5″W (4MR just west of Walter Reed)
Hidden 1/12/2019 and found: 1/18/2019 at 38°56’21.4″N 77°07’14.4″W (bridge connecting the Brookmont neighborhood near 61st and Ridge Dr and the C&O canal near Lock 5)
Hidden and found again: 1/22/2019 at 38°54’45.0″N 77°00’02.2″W (just off the MBT by R St. NE)

You already have the next two stops on the adventure (since Erikaceae found him and hid him the same day at Vigilante where you found him).

Just reading this thread gives me such joy and a pick-me-up in these dog days of winter. Might even be enough to get me out on my bike in the wild for the first time this winter.

Well-played Calvinites, well-played!

Locations looked good to me. For the notes: if you’re going with when Hobbes was hidden for consistency, the first spot on 4MR should be “Hidden by Emm 1/11” not Steve O (who found him on 1/12), and the second spot by the canal was hidden by Steve O on 1/12 (we didn’t find him until 1/18 :( ).
