Nah–they tried but didn’t make it. Got picked up in Harper’s ferry maybe? Bilsko was along for the ride too, right? Something about Pete slipping and hurting his knee right beforehand too? Anyone else remember details?

It was Pete, Bilsko and Stuart. Pete wrecked his knee the day before. To make it even harder he and Bilsko decided to ride fixie. Pete pulled out near Cumberland, which is when Tina and Lydia joined. Bilsko made it a bit further. Stuart made the whole thing in just over 24 hours.

I think Bilsko should try again. Ideally before March 20th!

Also, a few of us were going to ride up the C&O in the early hours (2:30am?) to meet up and ride with them into DC – including jopamora, americancyclo, Subby and myself. An proper meet up with the 24hr riders didn’t happen with the schedule not being met but some of this welcome group ended up going to work via White’s Ferry I think?

Rumour has it there will be another attempt this year, possibly featuring an additional forum member [not me], and probably not on fixed gear bikes.

vvill, Subby, jopmora, and el Presidente met up at 3am. I brought waffles. Mark had to turn around about 12 miles in to get to work, vvill had some (chain?) issues a few miles later. By the time Subby, jopmora and I made it out to Seneca Creek, I think we already knew the inbound group was running late at that point, but we pushed on to White’s Ferry anyway, hoping they could make up time. We waited for about ten minutes at White’s Ferry before deciding to take it across the river and head back on the W&OD. The C&O had been muddy and difficult going for the first 35 miles and I didn’t have time to spare on the way back. We saw Steve Enpu around the Green Lizard and stopped by Swings in DC where I dropped off the congratulatory cans of beer for the group on the hopes that they would arrive later. That was a great morning ride!

I rode out to meet them, met them, got dropped by them… :p My longest ride, including some deliveries before heading out. Also Bilsko, Lyd, and Tina’s longest rides on Starva http://labs.strava.com/flyby/viewer/#211167965?c=dqby2se7&z=A&t=1KIHZj&a=3SqWDM5_lAxQeZYM_wAQGw

If I could figure out driving/train logistics I would be interested in a allegro-paced ride from Cumberland to DC. That seems like a good intro and more easily contained in (summer) daylight hours. I was all set to do that a few years back, but injury of one of the group disrupted those plans. OTOH, not sure if it is *the* most interesting way to use up a full day’s familial credit for cycling.
