These tend to hold their value. Buy it; they are nice.

I do like the Chariot (now Thule) I got on CL, but I do not like the rain cover not zipping up (just Velcro at bottom) on this model. I bought a more comprehensive rain cover since the built-in one sucks. So worth looking at waterproofing system. Worth looking at how easy it is to get the kid(s) buckled up, how much room for helmets behind them, and how tall the kid(s) can be. The (2004) Burley Solo I had previously had much less head clearance than the Chariot Cougar 2 I use now.

Also worth looking at the hitch assembly. How easy is it to hook up in the dark, for example? The old Burley hitches kinda sucked since you had to line up a pin with multiple holes — hard in the dark with winter gloves on.

And finally (?) worth looking at ventilation options. For winter low ventilation may be good — keep them warm — but you want to make sure you can get wind through it in the summer. The Burley I had was great at this; I assume the new ones are too.

Good luck with that I sold that 10-year-old Burley Solo for $120. It had multiple offers and sold within a couple days. But sure, it won’t hurt to try.

2014 Solo retails for $529. 80% depreciation over 10 years. not bad for the utility that I assume you got out of it, although I also assume you only owned it for the last three years. :p

When I was in the market for a trailer, I was looking at used Burleys and Chariots, but I received an InSTEP Take 2 from a well-meaning in-law. It wasn’t my ideal trailer, it might be a bit heavy, but it served its purpose pretty well and kept my daughter dry in the wet, warm in the cold, and well ventilated in the heat. The plastic window on the side is tearing a bit now, but I think it’ll last through impending kid2 at which point I’ll try to sell it, but it definitely won’t have the resale of a better name product. I’ve also never experienced some of the bucking or bouncing that some with trailers complain of. Handles speeds up to 25mph just fine, and went off-roading around Burke Lake Park with no complaints.

I paid $200 used for the Burley D’lite I have now. I think it was about 6-7 years old when I bought it two years ago. It had some tearing in a piece of interior mesh that I sewed up and reinforced with some dental floss, a patch of rubbery meshy material and some shoe goo. Repair’s been holding up great. At the time, I was glad to find a D’lite in good condition for the price I did. Most offerings on Craigslist were asking $250-300. The seller even delivered it to my apartment since they were planning on driving to my neighborhood for dinner that week anyway! Steal!

I think a previously unowned Burley (even a floor model) would be worth $300 and should hold its resale value pretty well.

From as soon as they can support the weight of their head while wearing a helmet until they weigh more than the stated weight limit. You can start even earlier if you have some sort of car seat adapter that allows you to securely fasten said car seat into the trailer. I didn’t start at the car seat age, but I have heard it’s possible.

I think generally it’s roughly 1 year old to 5 or 6, by which time they have likely already graduated to their own bike or a trail-a-bike sort of setup for longer, faster rides anyway.

Yeah, I had it for 3 years; I paid $150 when I bought it.
