Burke VRE to DC (via Alexandria & Mt Vernon Trail or other route)

I live in Kings Park West which is close to the Burke VRE and commute every day into Arlington. This is the route I typically take. https://www.strava.com/activities/578843391 From my exit off the Custis, it’s an easy ride into Rosslyn and the MVT at TR island. Alternatively, you could skip the Custis and take the WOD/4MR to intersect the MVT near the airport.

I usually leave my house ~6:00am and I’m happy to caravan. PM me if you’re interested.

Thanks! I probably should have mentioned my time frame. I usually drop my daughter off at daycare at 7:30 so I’d be starting after that unless I switch off on Friday with my wife. I appreciate the route, I may give that route a try. That would be easy to just continue all the way in to DC on the Custis Trail.

I live in KPW townhomes (top of Gainsborough Drive) I plan to leave around 6:00 as well stopping at Fairfax City, Falls Church, Ballston, Rosslyn, and Georgetown before I head over to the Navy Yard. I usually ride in with a neighbor, I’m happy to convoy though.

What a day for a ride!

For anyone interested I ended up leaving the Burke VRE around 7ish and took roughly this route: http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/?r=6866270

Next time I’ll definitely cut straight up to Wakefield instead of what I did this time basically riding completely around Lake Accotink. Otherwise for anyone comfortable with the mileage and not interested in riding too many roads this was a really nice route. Some gravel and dirt but pretty flat for the most part and perfectly rideable with cross tires or your typical hybrid tires.
