Looks like you made good choices. She’ll enjoy the climbs much more.

I agree. I’m assuming that the bike is already 9 speed?

I’ve already updated the levers earlier, started out a 9 and it’ll stay that way. It’s already a triple, she doesn’t need a 30 speed 27 should suffice….if not I get to buy more stuff. gapteeth.gif
Nah if that doesn’t work I’ll make some sort of high torque E bike monster, now that is a project I would enjoy researching and building(not riding, lol). bwahaha

Have you thought about changing the chain rings instead? I ride something like a 50-45-26 crank and a 14-28 freewheel. I never use the granny around town, but I can climb walls with it if needed. Having a half-step granny gives lots of different gear ratios for cruising. I would worry about shifting performance with such a large rear cog, but, of course, I am not all that familiar with new technology. My newest bike is celebrating its 20th birthday! Hell, I would take off the integrated shifters/levers and stick a pair of old-fashioned friction shifters on the downtube, as God intended…

I tend to go for the thing least likely to add any annoyance to her ride.

Speaking of which, how’s she doing after the fall?

    Hey thanks for asking, cheers.gif

She’s healing slowly, the patches kept her from scaring but she’s still pretty sore and has a few bone bruises (shoulder and hip)that seem to be lingering. Her bike is fine…although she has yet to ride it outdoors, but has been consistently using the trainer for exercise during the week. Honestly though we’ve been far too busy (for my taste at least) on the weekends to get back out there, and when we are free it’s been raining. I’m trying to get her into the idea of a small informal organized ride in October so she doesn’t end up getting scared off the hobby.
