Oops, I found out that staff are staying here, not at the conference site…

Looks like a lot of speeding two-lane roads out there?

Maybe I’ll just get up at 5am and ride all the way to Bretton Woods instead of trying to stay the night… Ugh

After consulting the usual astrologers and weather mages, I’ve come up with these routes — going to stay as much off road as possible… Then will just take the towpath back to DC after the conference. Need to remember to charge up my lights…

And here’s an easier question for those of us easterners who don’t know DC west of Rock Creek etc.: what’s the best way to get from downtown 18th and K NW to the Capital crescent trail? Is there a secret safe way, or do you just ride down M street to Georgetown and then jog south the the under the Whitehurst road?

I’d go K through Washington Circle then continue on the ramp that heads down to K St, then hoof it underneath the Whitehurst to K/River. Traffic is pretty stagnant in the evening.

When we went to meet Dirt on the C&O, it took me about 45 min to get from Chain Bridge to the MacArthur turnoff near Great Falls on 40mm tires, if that helps your time calculations at all. It was super dark, but it was also 3am.

Personally, I would take Eye St to 21st to H to Virginia, then cross RCP and take the path under the Whitehurst to Water St.
