Alexandria continues to set the region’s standard in cycling-related government transparency and outreach to those who cannot attend BPAC meetings!

BPAC is not a government entity, nor do we have an affiliation with the City. We are a group of volunteers working to make walking and biking safer and better in Alexandria. We do meet with City staff, attend public meetings, volunteer for City commissions and boards and speak before these commission and boards, including city council.

Sorry to not be precise in my comment. Such government/private citizen partnerships are great. Since the committee is acting on behalf of the bicycling community and its actions and priorities potentially have an impact on government policy, it is good for the committee to be proactively transparent. Kuddos!

While it is great that Casey puts the links here, I doubt many people actually check the minutes as a result, and certainly anyone concerned about finding out what happens at BPAC meetings has several other easy ways to find out.

Also while I sometimes wish Alexandria had a new source like Arlington Now, at the moment I am thinking maybe it’s not always such a great thing ;)

Saw the thing on Ryan Brown. Can’t see the google doc right now but can federal leave be donated between agencies? How hard is that?

    Curious about this one:
NPS has a nearly defunct version for the Mount Vernon Trail
     Would like to revive
 Volunteers would assist users on the trail with directions, reporting safety issues and providing flat kits, etc.

Is this a defunct volunteer trail ranger program or is it a near defunct paid trail ranger program like on the DC trails (that is contracted through WABA)? I know a guy that would interested in being a volunteer trail ranger on the MVT since he might have done some volunteer trimming of some dangerous trail shrubbery last year already anyways.

Also, thanks as always for posting the BPAC minutes. I enjoy reading them each month and keeping in touch with Alexandria bike stuff.

Volunteer Trail Program. Not sure when they are going to next schedule a meeting. Suggest sending an email message to NPS staff Aaron LaRocca and Beth Porter
