    Hello All —

Thank you so much for your advice on training rides, bike selection, etc. etc. and all your support. Fourteen boys and eight adults from our troop set out from Cumberland on rainy Friday morning and finished up in Washington, DC yesterday. Everyone did a fantastic job and every single rider made it the whole way; not one person needed to be sag’d at any point. The logistics were handled by a support crew of three and went extremely smoothly.

It was a bit muddy, but beautiful. This is a trip well worth making if you haven’t already (and of course, there are other lodging options if camping is not your thing). We had scouts as young as 11 and we saw families with smaller kids on trailer-bikes out there so it’s a great family trip.

If you ever want to do this with scouts or want advice on where to stay for a four day trip, I’d be happy to help.

    Here are some photos.

The scouts had ample opportunity to learn to clean a bike:

Congrats to all the riders and kudos to you for all the work you did to prepare for this successful adventure. That’s a long ride at any age. I’d imagine it was epic experience for the youngsters especially and something they will always remember.

Awesome work by ALL of you. It was really fun watching this project. :D

My friend Lydia rode the entire C&O this weekend too. She did it in two days. I’ll have to ask her if she crossed paths with y’all. :D

    A tremendous accomplishment for everyone!
Occasionally I’ll see the young RCV racers training on the CCT on my commute, but that pales in significance compared to this big ride.

As soon as I can free up some time, I’m really keen to do this ride (either by itself or as part of a larger GAP+C&O ride)

Very nice, but the headline writer needs to be canned.
