Since the competition for the podium spots is getting a bit heated (although #1 seems to have a lock on it), it has been pointed out to me that a certain team in the top four has 12 members. I usually don’t pay a whole of attention to this, but a fellow team mate happened to catch it. Are we all able to get a 12th member?? If so, I’d be more than happy to add someone who’s only ridden 36 days! :D

Some of us expat midwesterners might be inclined to say we almost never get a real winter here.

As a New Englander I used to agree. But six years in this place has corrupted me. I’ve grown soft.

Wait. Someone is being nice to Bob?

In the end, I’m more than happy to live by whatever rules/decisions the powers that be make. And even if I wouldn’t agree with or would do differently myself, respect their decrees and proclamations. Their game, their rules. That’s fair. I realize it’s not a democracy. :)

Clarification: there is no “powers that be.” There is no “their game.” There is no “their rules.” There is no ‘they.’
The game is we. Us. You.

I thought this was a totally reasonable question — I certainly don’t see why a team captain had to publicly blame his teammate for bringing it up privately. And though I would have booted the person who was late to join if I was in charge, I’m not in charge and I didn’t put in any work other than riding my bike. I also don’t think anyone can blame the Dark Cabal – well, except maybe AlanA – for its decision.

More importantly, and as someone who takes every “competition” way too seriously: Who cares?!

I’m pretty sure Rule 5 is in effect here.

I do realize that once in a while I may read a certain negativity into some of the posts, especially when aimed at me in particular. And I have been advised that this is all in good fun, and that most people make comments meant to be taken in a humorous way. I have come to accept that. But…..

Maybe I don’t know how to read, but would you please explain to me where I publicly blamed a teammate for this. My original post said that I was made aware of this by a teammate (who was never named by me). I figured that since I have VOLUNTEERED to be a Captain of a team, that I should at least do something to follow through, so I made my original post. Perhaps my mistake was to make a post, and I should have done it via private message. But I certainly was not aware of that option. I have no problems with any decisions made, and was never trying to publicly blame or humiliate anyone. Just a simple inquiry. But apparently with this group, there is no such thing as a simple inquiry.

And if anyone dislikes my post I will accuse them of disliking all posts made by volunteers!! (There, how am I doing with this board humor??) It’s all in fun. :)

Rule Five! Why didn’t we think of that for a team name?? As the captain of the extra large team I apologize for not noticing (sooner than I did) that an extra member joined. I was probably notified that one had been replaced by another but I’m terrible at reading email. So I added both riders to our team. Sorry! Subtract 8.3% (one twelfth) from our final score.

No … no … no … We are going to subtract your highest scoring rider from your score. So let it be written … so let it be done!

And while you are discussing this, team 20 is growing in numbers

I think next year that the number of riders per team should be determined by your team number.

It looks like someone is planning a repeat of last year’s leaderboard hijacking. Team 20 better get their numbers in order or I’m removing them from the leaderboard.

So no more “just go ride your bike” or “let it ride”?

There’s a difference between one extra player with a reasonable explanation, and active cheating.
