Why do you think I would waste my effort to post a lie on a stupid forum? There is certainly no one here that I need to impress with anything. I thought the whole idea was to ride your bike and have fun, and not to attack other people. But then again, it is a public forum, so I guess I shouldn’t expect as much.

Wait… …there’s a podium? Can we get gigantic champagne bottles too and spray them onto everyone? Maybe some podium dogs too?

Alls you need to not get too wrapped up in this game is to get yourself on a team always plunging toward the bottom, with an honorary member who rides more than anyone else and a captain who has apparently not ridden in a couple of weeks. (Names withheld since perhaps there is some sort of health/family/work issue, so no blame implied.) No chance of a podium unless there’s one for the lantern rouge.

Actually, we don’t really have any idea how the teams are derived. It’s a closely hidden secret. This year it is only performing a tad better than random selection.

Make the top 20 people from the previous year captains, and let them choose their teams.

Cause choose up games on the schoolyard were such great, ahem, character building experiences. Oy.

Thanks for all of the assorted comments and the great (and some stupid) ideas!

I’m still sort of new at all this, and was stupid enough to volunteer to be a team captain in my 2nd year, so I had only started this discussion after team mates had brought it too my attention. I most likely would never even had noticed, as I’m sure that most people wouldn’t have, either.

I’m ok with leaving everything as is, since as someone pointed out “stuff happens” and that this is not that unusual. I certainly don’t want to stir up any trouble or have anyone tossed from a team. I just want to go for a ride (in hopefully some warmer and less windy weather).

However, since I will be presenting a prize to Rod for creating his dumb “circle” ride, if they happen to end up ahead of our team, his six pack may be Natty Boh instead of a fine premium craft beer. (And in case you can’t tell, that is some of my strange humor)

No fisticuffs at the awards ceremony, if you please. This will not be that kind of biker bar.

Cheating is an integral part of every cycling competition.

I confess! I noticed the 12th rider. Blame me.
