Hi Steve and Everyone!
Thanks for organizing us Steve. I live south of Alexandria close to Mt. Vernon, and like to get out early every day, before work. I hope we can get out and do some group rides at some point, or at least get together for coffee in a central location. I’m looking forward to seeing where everyone’s rides take them on a daily basis. 2021 was my biggest year for miles since I joined Strava, but most of it was probably within about 20 miles of my house! This is my second year participating in Freezing Saddles, and I plan to ride every day – I may miss a few days when I go on vacation toward the end of February, however.
Best,
Christina

Hi,
I’m Shannon…I’m tomacsh here on the forum and “S T”on Strava because when I signed up ages ago I used my Google account and that’s the cryptic name I use for myself so the World Wide Web knows a little less….Anyway, most of my rides are what you’d call “sleaze” but they add up! Looking forward to the group support and comradery [emoji1430]

One of these days I’m going to write a plugin for the Freezing Saddles website that automatically changes “Bollard Busters” to something creative. But I can’t think what that creative thing might be.

I’m not on your team but hope to run into you all riding (not literally).

Howdy y’all. I’m Alan. I live way up in the northern burbs of Moco (Olney). Other than riding with one other person every so often, I usually ride on my own. I’m retired now, so I don’t have to squeeze in early morning or late night rides while holding down a job.

You have been cursed with getting me on your team. I do love to ride and put in a fair number of miles every year. But….only when it’s not wet, snowy or icy. I am having a really bad Jan. so far. I’m hoping that will change shortly (wink, wink).

I enjoy making silly comments on peoples rides, so be on the lookout for that. It’s not much fun if everyone gives kudo’s to everything but never says a thing. I will do my best not to offend anyone! lol, but I can’t guarantee it. Trust me, though. It will not be intentional.

I’ve done FS for a few years now (I don’t actually recall how many). My team has never won, but has been in the top three. I’ve also been in the bottom three. Such is life. No one wins any money at this (unless you win a prize for a silly game – which I enjoy doing).

And, in all my years of seeing the “Bollard Busters”, I still have no idea as to the meaning of it. Oh, well. Just try to ride when you can and don’t do anything stupid to get a few points for this silly game. (lol, perhaps my first comment that may offend someone).

Alan… you were suppose to be on Team 7, so that we could be on the same team again this year! We did pretty well last year. If I remember correctly, I think our Team 27 had the most miles of any team, but actually came in second on points. :(

Best wishes to all you “Fourteeners”!

Alan – I was going to post a comment on your Texas ride, but then I thought, well, I don’t even really know this guy yet, maybe I should hold off… but now I will feel free to comment! I hope we get to ride together at some point! And, congrats on being retired. I hope to do that in the next 5 or 6 years.

Best,
Christina

Christina,

Thanks. It’s a pretty nice life (other than having no income).

It is a bit of problem making comments when you don’t know anything about the person. I usually look back at some previous rides to see if I can get a feel for what they might be like. I try to be safe at first by posting something generic.

Feel free to say what you like on my rides. I think I already did a generic one for your ride today.

Hi everyone.

I live out in Herndon. I’m looking forward to teaming up with you this winter.

Left over snow and ice in my area makes it a bit tough, but I’m getting my outdoor rides in.
