Bobco, I am very very sorry to say I probably won’t be able to make it to the ride tomorrow. I had forgotten that I have an appointment I would have to leave for right in the middle of the festivities, and its one of the very rare ones I can’t just bike to. :( I’m really bummed about it as I like the notion of seeing you off by riding along memory lane with you.

Bobco, best of luck to you on the left coast. We have never met, but I have been grateful for your presence in and contributions to our communities, in Alexandria and beyond. I hope this move is very good for you and your family.

Hoping to drag my wife out to join me on Sunday’s farewell ride, tho not sure that’ll fly…at any rate, we met once (recent Aquatic Gardens ride) and I’ve enjoyed stalking via the forum for a while. The factoids, the tours, the tidbits that add spice to our lives, and the general positive attitude….all are appreciated, Bobco, and Washington state shall gain what the Washington area shall lose. Enjoy the left coast and learn to love rain, I guess.

I just may have to fly back and attend this as BobCo is the only one I know who has had more farewell HH and rides than I did (except for @consularrider, who holds the all time record for drawing out his departure that we’re not sure if he actually ever left or not)

SteveO, bobco85: Sue et moi will meet you enroute, if not at the Bluemont Caboose, most likely at the Learning Loop, 4MR Trail near the Pike (I assume this is the route…let me know if that is different.)

This is earlier than is customary for my New Jersey born & bred Diner Girl, and an ambitious ride for her, but we’re gonna do it. She will fuss if the pace is too fast, though…

Bobco, you and Sue have to talk about McNair. She works there @ Eisenhower School.

Look who’s talking! Did you ever leave? You keep showing up all the time.

Change in plans- I am going to try to meet up around Fillmore St. Sue is sleeping in, not riding. But… She *might* try to Metro in to the Nationals Park area and rendezvous with us for lunch and the game. See if we can make this work…

Yesterday’s ride was a fitting end to my time here in the DC area. I am happy to be able to share many of my personal routes and experiences including introducing my parents (while pointing to Judd, I told my mom, “He’s from the same state as your father.”). Haha, in the end, it was the Bobco’s Autobiographical History Ride!

I only took 4 photos and didn’t get the full group, but others should be able to fill in the gaps.

Thank you to everyone for coming, even if for just a brief bit to say goodbye.

Also, I had no idea that Boomer was actually going to fly down here for this ride (thank you)!

Most of all, a special thank you to Steve O for bugging me about going away stuff and planning a few things while I was in the midst of a stressful move and unable to think much about it.

I fly out in a few hours for my new home in Seattle. I’ll see y’all when I come to visit.

Can the Seattle edition of Freezing Saddles be called Freezing Seattles?

Only if there is actual freezing involved. Otherwise, it will be named Sleazing Seattles. :p

I will make it a goal to bike to an area in subfreezing temperatures (Mount Rainier should work). Of course, to make up for lack of freezing temperatures, I am obligated to do whatever I can to achieve the rainiest ride [emoji16]

Many of you have had the opportunity to sign this farewell gift, photo book, we’ll be sending to Bob. If you have not, and you would like to, please let me know.

    Thanks,
