Biking from Potomac to Downtown DC – Advice – Preferred Routes

Hey I’m considering biking from Potomac to Downtown. I live near River and Falls road. If anyone does this commute on a bike, please let me know your favorite routes and what to lookout for. I only have a single speed with road tires right now, so the flatter or mostly downhill the better. I can take the bus or metro back if the hills are too tough for a single speed.

You may find Persimmon Tree Road hairy, but once on MacArthur, you can take the bike path on the south side of the road and then it is the Capital Crescent Trail to Georgetown.

Persimmon Tree isn’t bad at all – less traffic than River or MacArthur and except for the immediate approach to MacArthur, no big hills to deal with. I would suggest the same route.
