ParticipantWow. So they broke in while the store was closed and made off with 24 bikes? Right in front of the waterfront park. And nobody saw a thing. No burglar alarm?

ParticipantThere was a back door that wasn’t locked and that’s how they got in. Video surveillance shows 2 persons unhooking the bikes then rolling them out. I was told that the back door was never locked even before the heist. It was very disturbing to see a Cervelo TT bike with Zipp 808’s being abducted by these individuals. That rig was easily around $6-8K. bucks.
Correction: I meant Adrian Fenty’s bike was stolen. Fenty Senior and Shawn Fenty are regulars at the Pro Shop in Gtown.

Unlocked doors, no alarms? Not to mention I’m unimpressed

ParticipantI’m gonna hazard a guess that their insurance company isn’t impressed either. Not to mention any creditors. Sounds a bit odd.

Participantthat’s crazy. I know space was cramped after water st gym moved in, but the folks that kept their bikes there were really in to cycling. That’s a real shame all those bikes have gone missing. Did they go out the back door or through the garage? they must have had a big truck to get 24 bikes.

ParticipantI heard about this as well. My bike was stolen (march 29th) from a garage attached to the same garage that cycle life is attached to. There has been a bit of a rash of thefts here, so I’m not super surprised. Curious if police involvement will make thing better. If anyone sees a gray Salsa vaya 3 show up someplace, please let me know.

ParticipantGiven the size of the theft they will probably sell the bikes a few states away. If they’ve got an entire truck filled with them it would make sense to just keep on driving….
Definitely seems like an organized effort is going on in that part of town. They have obviously done their research ahead of time.
Such a shame.

Well, sorry to sound like a cynic, but given that one of the bikes stolen belonged to the former mayor who was largely responsible for the meteoric rise of the current Chief of Police, I suspect there will be some high level interest in the investigation.
I agree that it is very strange a door would be routinely left unlocked at a place known to house nice stuff.
Sorry for everyone who lost a bike.

I love the place. But I agree, W! T! F!

ParticipantDCPD does have video evidence of the individuals that stole the bikes. I’m sure they will nab these guys pretty soon. As for the bikes, not so sure if they can recover all that was stolen. Hopefully they get it back. I sure wouldn’t want to be the guy calling and informing these people that their bikes were stolen.
