rcannon100, where did you get this photo from?
The event was super cool. I raced the first race at 8:15 and nearly everything was still frozen. That was a good thing, I assume as things melted it got tougher. Had a good race and finished 10th.
My only disappointment, the beer tent could not open early enough for me. I assume that fault lies with the VA State Gov.
Hey a few of us were in the same race with you. Tim Kelley crushed it on a mtb and finished 2nd. I battled with ShawnoftheDread but he bested me and took 6th, I finished 7th. Glad you came out to race, sorry I didn’t know who you were.
A few other forum members raced – congrats all!
- KayakCyndi finished 4th in women’s cat 4
- tuba transport finished 5th in men’s cat 4/5
- Erin C finished 6th in women’s 3/4
- rule#10 finished 5th in men’s cat 3/4 35+
- rcannon100 jr. finished 6th in men’s cat 4/5
- DaveK raced in men’s cat 3/4
Saw a few other forum members: Mark Blacknell, consularrider, rcannon100, rockford10 + boys, megabeth, dgm – sorry if i missed anyone. It was a great day of racing, thanks all for coming out.

I was not sure who you all were either. I was the guy on the Ti 29er hardtail with Jones bars The link is to a photo of me and my bike in the DCCX. I had a white Potomac Velo jersey on this weekend and orange grips on the bars.
I was not super far behind you three in 7-9th mid-second lap. I had a hope to catch you after the low hump barriers, but I did something way dumb. I turned too early in a turn and got caught up in the tape. Getting myself extracted pegged my heart rate. I did not recover until after the sand pit and then it was too late for me to close the gap. Even without this, at best I would have caught but not passed 9th and 8th (David Stearman and Brian Indre) No way would have I caught you.
So looking forward to the 45 plus 3/4/5 next year. Wish I could have gotten the 10 races in this year to move to cat 4.

ParticipantI was there, too, sans dogs this week (since I was technically “working”). I was the medic, if anyone noticed a blond girl walking around with a medic bag (or mostly, cheering everyone as they went over the Happy Humps since it was thankfully a pretty uneventful race for me!).
Everyone seemed to really enjoy the course and had a blast. Congrats to everyone who raced and double congrats to those that podiumed! (Is that a word?) 😎

Looks like it is open now: https://www.bikereg.com/snotcycle
Not sure I’m gonna do it (I think I’ve only actually done it once — maybe twice). Never raced at the Freedom Center either. I’ll give it some thought, though; I had a blast the year I did it.

First loser! Well, first place was way off the front and I wasn’t going to catch him on a wide open course like that. Time to buy a CX bike!
Oh, and I would have done the 4/5, but I had stuff going on in the afternoon!

ParticipantWhat a spectacular day! The race went off so well and everyone had a great time. I spent so much time running around between marshalling, tending the sand pit, registration and a little racing that I took very few pictures. But Dave took these two:

ParticipantGood News (think Farnsworth). There is still some CX racing this season if you want to head up to Philly

Better than doing 33 laps around HP any day!

ParticipantI am not the biggest fan of GoPro like stuff, but this is freaking amazing. From the 4/5 race. Love the readout of cadence, speed, etc…

He and the rest of the VWS team had a rockin’ day out there – congrats to Sean, Bob, and especially Eric for grabbing the Masters 45+ 1/2/3/4 jersey. Awesome!!!
