My take is that any amount of biking –regardless of whether or not its bike-only or part of a well planned multi-modal commute– on BTWD is certainly in the spirit of the endeavour. Fast or slow doesn’t matter. Spending time on two non-motorized wheels is the important thing.
Pentagon express busses are a good idea for the morning, as is Old Town in the evening. It’s also a nice ride home to Falls Church if you want her to meet you there.
Another pit stop option is the Crystal City Waterpark stop at 18th and Crystal Drive. From the bus station at the Pentagon it might be the easiest way onto the MVT.
Any distance on a bike contributes to fitness and serves to add to the critical mass of cyclists. Do what works and be proud. We are glad to have you!
Just so you know, some of us make it something of a holiday and never actually get to work. One of the best days of leave I’ve taken.
I know its a bit north of you, but I’ve been leading a convoy from the providence rec center for the past few years and would be happy to have you along.
The morning is the best time for biking. Riding in the morning gets the blood moving and wakes the body up. I always feel refreshed after my ride and am ready to go to work. I find that I have energy throughout the day instead of losing steam in the afternoon. supported living
