Bike Rack Recommendation?

Hello —

We have a new vehicle and are in the market for a hitch mounted bike rack. Anyone have any recommendations? Models to avoid? Thanks very much.

We got the Thule Apex (4 bike model). We bought it during one of REI’s various sales. We’ve been very happy with it.

This is a good point — one of the moms on the C&O trip had a step through hybrid bike (yep, she rode all 184 miles on it — talk about ELITE) and we couldn’t fit it on our rack or any of the other vehicles’ racks. We had a pickup truck at our disposal for ferrying bikes both ways so it was not a problem for us, but if this is a consideration for you, keep it in mind.
