I just started a new job at 20th & K, went from parking my bike at my desk to this:
No one else brings their bikes up to the studio. I’ll use a U lock but don’t feel still don’t feel secure locking bikes in the building garage. Does anyone know of more secure bike parking in the area? Think a U Lock is enough?
And now you understand why I don’t ride the Cervelo to my current job…

ParticipantMy question would be: how public is the garage? Do only employees of your company park there? Or are “strangers” routinely coming and going through there?
1801 K has a secure bike parking facility — you need a specially coded key card to enter it. I don’t know how non-tenants go about getting access, but you could ask property management (they are located on the L Street side, the next door down from the Nordstrom Rack entrance). The only problem is that the facility is packed during good weather.
I’ll send you a pm about where I park my bike — I feel it is fairly secure.

I don’t trust my fellow employees to not knock it over or park their own bike on top it…you should check out the garage racks at HST, it’s a total s*&tshow.

I’m spoiled at SA-6. Crappy racks, but not overcrowded. Oh, and I have a kickstand.

ParticipantIf you are interested in enlisting in the Navy, I can get you a nice spot on the Navy Yard, although you probably would have to spend 6 months on a boat away from your bike from time to time

No matter which of my fleet I ride in, it is always the coolest.
P.S. I’ve never had problems in the public garage at 18th and M beyond clumsy fellow cyclists.
