I’ve never had much luck pinpointing the exact difference between the Evolution4 and the NY series is. The NY is a newer model and I believe does have a difference casing on the disc lock. As far as I know, the chain for both is the same.
I use the NYC lock at work and have the U-lock version as well for out-and-about. I’ve been happy with them and still have my bikes – but, to be clear, I rarely lock up outside for any extended time unless I’m nearby. Bikes are either in a key-access cage at work or in the living room at home.
You’ll probably want to pick up one of the Onguard or Kryptonite cables too, to run through the front wheel.
