ParticipantA stretch of 14th St in Columbia Heights was upgraded with a wider bike lane. A lot of cyclists use 14th St so it’s nice to have more space!

ParticipantI keep forgetting that there’s a nice bike lane on Woodley Park Pl. It runs parallel to Conn from Calvert to Cathderal so it allows you to avoid either riding on that stretch of Conn or dodging pedestrians on the side walk. I thought it was amusing though that they allow parking on Sundays in the bike lane. There must be a church somewhere around there!

ParticipantWell known to all who traverse the W&OD in the Little City of Falls Church, “Citizens Bridge” over Rt 7 Leesburg Pike, which leads you to Lazy Mike’s Monday Morning Pancake Club to the west, and to the Bikenetic Shop to the east.

We have Craig, a Falls Church resident, to thank for Citizens’ Bridge which opened in 1992. Before that, cyclists and walkers had to use the sidewalks to West Street to cross Route 7.

All hail Craig!! I started commuting in 1988 from Falls Church to NW DC, and remember what the death trap was like at the intersection of Leesburg Pike Rt 7 & West Street (were Lazy Mike’s Deli was originally located alongside the 7-11;-).

Actually, Lazy Sundae, the original name of Lazy Mike’s, was originally, originally located in Clarendon and moved to Falls Church by the 7-11 in the aughts, where the original MMPC started meeting. Then it moved out to its current location when that parcel started redevelopment a couple years ago.

Excellent switchback practice on the ramps for that bridge. There are 6 on each side of the bridge[emoji16]

ParticipantIn the relatively new parking garage at Fairfax Corner I stumbled on a locked bike cage on the second level.
. I assume it is for the use of the employees who work in the retail stores and office buildings in this center.February 2, 2021 at 4:06 am #1110779camiller
ParticipantAt various places near the shops and restaurants at Fairfax Corner there are a number of bike racks where one can lock up their bike.

ParticipantWhile riding on the Fairfax County Parkway Trail there is a wayfinding sign to let you know there is a nearby park. It also let’s you know that to stay on the Ffx Cnty Pkwy Trl you must make a right turn. The Pkwy Trail, as it passes through the Fair Lakes area, makes multiple turns before realigning with the Parkway. There are wayfinding signs at those turns.

ParticipantCentral Park Bike Lane. It was plowed, then plowing the street partially obscured it again and the buses keep pushing snow back in the lane.

The 2nd Ave bike lane was mostly plowed, but alongside the temporary outdoor dining spaces it looks like it couldn’t fit (same alongside several of them heading down to E 73rd St).
