DDOT began to seriously study and east downtown PBL in 2015. For several years after that it was the subject of bitter controversy.

It is finally open on 9th street from Pennsylvania to Florida. I enjoyed riding it. It is decent piece of infrastructure, and riding it also reminded me of long discussions on Greater Greater Washington.

Like a number of other recently installed DC cycletracks (e.g., Kenyon between Warder and 11th, and Virginia Ave NW), it’s not fully/officially “open” since signal work isn’t complete (though it’s coming along nicely). The new lanes are lovely, but please be especially mindful of turning drivers failing to yield.

Thanks for this caveat. Though of course I try to be mindful of drivers failing to yield everywhere. ;)
