Of DC? Or a travel type thing?

Went to France with Custom Getaways for the TdF. Other than trips like that (Giro/Vuleta/Marmotte/etc), they don’t do many other things, though they’re the travel partner for the 2015 World Championships in Richmond.

I also know that Thompson Bike Tours has more varied rides, and has a better updated website. A friend went on their tour at the same time I was on mine, his experience was more biking intensive and less sight-seeing.

We did the Bon Ton Roulet in 2012. Not a formal tour exactly more of an event ride. Still highly recommend it. Great scenery, lovely roads, a variety of route options each day, baggage service, and many, many wineries along the way. It actually is pretty affordable too.

    only somewhat relevant:

My mom has been doing walking holidays for the past four years in italy, france and spain. She has used Inntravel. They give you a route from one BnB to the next and they transport your luggage for you. Her hikes range from 6-14 miles per day for a full week. She has often come back from the trips feeling more fit, but weighing more from the wonderful food and wine along the way.

They also have Cycling Holidays, but again, I have no personal experience. I only know that a 66 yr old woman that strives to get 10,000 steps per day loves the walking/hiking tours they provide.

I’d love to hear what group you end up going with and where!

I haven’t done the tour but I would recommend the Bon Ton Roulet. That area of New York is beautiful. Other options include a point to point ride on the Erie Canal. (I did Niagara Falls to Albany once. 2 hills in 360 miles!) Another option is look into tours in Vermont. There are several tour operators who have a many years of experience with Inn to Inn touring.

Think The Kid and gap year + MAMIL (me). Not entirely sure what that adds up to. The Kid is a much stronger cyclists than I. So a very reasonable thing to do would be to send him off on his own. Another option is to do something cool, but you know, like Inn hopping – where I can take naps and he can go climb the rockies in the afternoon.

I mean it would be cool to like bike down the eastern seaboard. But I really really dont have the range. Maybe I could get an ebike (that is a half serious idea)!

The Bon Ton is good for this since you could send him on the long route every day and you could ride the mid or short route. Usually all routes start together but split off from each other somewhere along the way.

My husband and in-laws have done a couple of different tours — Trek Travel in Austria/Czech Republic; ? (maybe Trek again) in France; a small, local BNB – to – BNB service in New Zealand. I think New Zealand was their favorite, but all of the trips were awesome, no complaints about any of the companies. My MIL is the only one who has been on all the different trips, and I can get more details/put you in touch if you’d like.

Why not get Kid to work for Trek Travel or similar, then you could join for one trip? I have a friend who left to work for Trek Travel, ended up in California, then Europe, and possibly in Australia… Highly recommended.
