Looking for permission to buzz the ninja jogger? Negative bike rider, the pattern is full.*
Instead you can join the Bicycle Fun Club Ride on Sunday, March 5th as we tour several aviation related sites culminating with a viewing of the movie “Top Gun” in IMAX at the Smithsonian in DC. Route is approximately 28 miles in length beginning in Greenbelt, MD and ending at the Smithsonian’s DC Air & Space Museum.
Route and times will be posted shortly and also updated here along with details on ticket purchases.
The Bicycle Fun Club is also proudly welcoming Sarah Bee as an official co-conspirator, even though she was born in North Dakota.

ParticipantYou may already know this, but there’s an aviation museum in College Park (not too far from the bike trail) if you wanted to buzz that during the ride also.
I’ll try to join if just for a little while. My nephew had the audacity to get birthed 14 years ago and have his reminder party this Sunday evening

You have nailed one of the stops. Komorebi has planned a most excellent route. Does your nephew have a bike? What better present for a teenager than seeing Top Gun with Uncle Ricky Evil?

Yes, I’ve given him a bike or three, but between riding 28 miles with weird uncle Ricky or playing video games with friends and eating birthday cake, I’m pretty sure of what his choice will be.

ParticipantDetails on movie tickets: I purchased 6 extra tix at the staff discount rate of $12 per ticket. First ones to reply to this thread RSVPing will have dibs on these tix. On Sunday, please have exact change for your ticket. For everyone else, I would recommend buying your tix online since this will likely be a sold out showing. You can select the buy tix option by going to the website http://si.edu/Imax/movie/1325. Make sure you select the 5:15pm showing at Lockheed IMAX theater. If there is overwhelming response to this thread by 5pm, I will try to run over to the box office today and see if I can get some more discount tix. Thanks!!!!!!

ParticipantThanks for arranging the tickets, SarahBee!
Here’s the route: http://www.mapmyride.com/routes/view/1468315714. There are several options for joining the ride:
— Meet at 12:15 p.m. at the Jimmy John’s at 7410 Baltimore Ave. in College Park if you’d like to get lunch before the ride.
— Meet at 1:00 p.m. at the College Park Aviation Museum.
— Meet at 2:15 p.m. at Philz Coffee in Navy Yard. The ride will be about 29 miles if you’re starting in College Park, and about 16 miles if you’re joining us in Navy Yard. If you’re Metroing to the ride start, both the Jimmy John’s and the Aviation Museum are close to the College Park Metro, and Philz is close to the Navy Yard Metro. If you’re a Virginia rider worried about getting lost in the wilds of Murriland and want to convoy from Arlington/Alexandria to the ride start, PM me.

Idk how to PM here either, but I’d be interested in convoying from VA….I think. How early do you think we’d hafta leave?
It looks like the ride comes back to Arlington/Alexandria — is that right? I wouldn’t be joining for the movie, just the ride.March 4, 2017 at 5:41 am #1067316bikedavid
ParticipantRequesting fly-by. I’m not sure if I can make the ride but would love to join for the movie.

I wouldn’t be joining for the movie, just the ride.I’ll be rolling from Best Buns in Shirlington at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday if anyone wants to convoy. And yes, the ride will cross the 14th Street Bridge back into Virginia, stop at DCA, go through Pentagon City up to the Air Force Memorial, take the Route 50 trail around Ft. Myer, and cross the Memorial Bridge into D.C. Feel free to peel off wherever would be most convenient for you.

Sure, that sounds good. Let’s plan to meet in the Air and Space Museum at the box office for the IMAX theater at 5:00 p.m.
